Tiwul, Typical Food From Special Region Of Yogyakarta

Tiwul is a food that made from cassava and used as a staple food instead of rice. Residents of Wonosobo, Gunungkidul, Wonogiri, Pacitan and Blitar are known to consume this type of food everyday.especially the Special Region Of ​​Yogyakarta, which until now still consumes it. Tiwul was used as a staple food for a part of the Indonesian population during the Japanese occupation and now instant tiwul also made to be traded in stores and supermarkets.  Tiwul is made through several processes. In the manufacturing process, cassava is peeled and dried in the sun to dry. The dried cassava is commonly referred as Gaplek. This Gaplek is pounded until smooth and becomes like flour. Then the flour is steamed until cooked

Labuhan is a traditional ceremony which is held by the kings of Yogyakarta Palace which aims to invoke salvation to God for The King, The Palace and Yogyakarta People. The ceremony is full of magical meanings and conducted officially in the context of the coronation events of the King of The Palace. This is what makes this ceremony has standard rules in accordance with the provisions that applied in the Yogyakarta Palace. 

Rasulan, A Typical Annual Event From Gunungkidul

Rasulan is a regional tradition which is especially held in Gunungkidul. This tradition has been held for a long time by Gunungkidul people, especially by the farmers after the harvest season. Rasulan or Bersih Dusun (Generally terms) are almost held in every villages in Gunungkidul. This tradition is often held every year until now. The implementation time is also different, depending on the agreement of the villagers in every villages. But, usually this tradition is held on june and july. Usually, rasulan held for several days and begins with activities to clean the environment. Usually, at the end of this event there will be an traditional dance performance.
